Claims after an incident in Thailand: why speed matters.

How long do I have to claim for an injury?
Tort claims must be filed within 1 year of the victim knowing of the injury and who is liable, and no later than 10 years after the event (Civil and Commercial Code s.448).
Can my insurer recover what it paid?
An insurer that has paid the claim steps into the insured’s rights against the at-fault party (Civil and Commercial Code s.880).
Is there a simpler route for consumer claims?
Consumer and medical claims can use the Consumer Case Procedure Act, which simplifies proceedings and exempts consumers from most court fees.
Is online harassment from Thailand a crime there?
Thailand’s Computer Crime Act and Criminal Code cover acts such as threats, extortion and sharing private images. The exact charges depend on the facts and are subject to applicable rules.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

I was injured in Thailand months ago. Is it too late?

Perhaps not, but act now. Injury claims must generally be filed within 1 year of knowing of the injury and who is liable. Tell us the date of the incident in your message.

Can I make a police complaint in Thailand while living abroad?

Our legal team identifies the right police jurisdiction, prepares the complaint and supports the first report, then follows up with the investigating officer. What can be done without you present depends on the case, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

Do I have to pay court fees for a consumer claim?

Consumer and medical claims can use the Consumer Case Procedure Act, which exempts consumers from most court fees. Our legal fees are agreed separately, in advance.

Tell us what happened.

Start with the date, the place and the names of the other parties, for our conflict check. Please don’t send medical records or photos until we confirm we can act.
